I don't really know. They did mention that they had issues with invaders before they found a second chance on the island though so perhaps it was their misguided way of protecting themselves.

I don't know how Hien ended up in that state, but a copy of Rafayel stabbed me.

I feel guilty about what I did to him, though it's hard to apologize to him for it when it wasn't exactly the real him.
